My name is Sheri Barber.
After leaving a high demand, patriarchal religion, I went through a serious deconstruction of patriarchy (still am). I read every book I can get my hands on and have also become hyper aware of the MAN-made world we live in. So many needs and wants are overlooked for women’s day-to-day living and so many adjustments have had to be made for women to simply function. Just in the past few years, we have been enlightened in the medical field of women's health to the many blunders, lack of testing and studies, miscalculations, and misinterpretations in the multifaceted differences between the male and female body. It is mind blowing to me that the sophisticated and complicated body of a woman has been dumbed down and simply treated like a smaller version of a of man!
My life's goal is to start making communal changes that will bring a more egalitarian society, focused on making the world a better place for everyone and everything in it. Learning about how matrilineal societies have functioned in the past is worth looking at and discussing. Patriarchy can only thrive and survive by oppression. Using everything as a resource to the betterment and benefit of a tiny handful of humans at the tippy top. We are starting to become more aware of the dangers and lies of hierarchy. Light is being shone brightly on the many things that patriarchy has been trying to hide, cover and brush aside. History is finally being acknowledged that patriarchy was not our beginning. Survival of the fittest is not natural, but has been forced on us to except as fate and an excuse for violence and oppression.
There is a better way.
